Renewable Energy Is The Future

The Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) plays a key role in promoting the use of renewable energy sources in Nigeria. The Institute conducts research on the use of woody biomass as a source of energy and works to develop new technologies and techniques for the sustainable management of forests. Additionally, FRIN also works to educate the public about the benefits of renewable energy and the importance of sustainable forest management.

One of the key contributions of the institute to renewable energy is in the area of bioenergy. The institute works on research and development of new tree species that can be used as feedstock for bioenergy production, such as the jatropha and pongamia. The Institute also conducts research on the agronomy, physiology and breeding of these tree species to improve their yield, pest and disease resistance.

FRIN also provides training and technical assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enable them to produce bioenergy, as well as to farmers and rural communities to enable them to grow bioenergy crops and access to markets.

Overall, the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria plays a vital role in promoting the use of renewable energy sources in Nigeria, through research, development, education, and training.
