INTRODUCTION

  The North East Arid Zone Research Station (NEARS) Damasak is one of the Ten Research outstations of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria which was established in the year 2003 to carry out research into the forestry needs of the North East Arid Zone of Nigeria.

Mandate

      The mandates of the station are as follows:
    • Provision of Seeds and Seedlings
    • Plantation Establishment
    • Sand Dune Fixation
    • Shelterbelt Establishment
    • Landscaping
    • Forestry Education and Training
    • Research into Acasia senegal production
